Backcountry skiing on Big Jay is one of the most classic ski tours in all New England.  They get snow very similar to our western ski resorts.  Big Jay never disappoints. This is an expert tour and clients are expected to be in excellent physical shape.  Clients must be proficient skiing tight trees, narrow chutes, and have experience with uphill travel and transitions.  Killington Mountain Guides has unique permission licensed through the State of Vermont to guide this terrain.  It is very remote and committing and should not be considered without a seasoned ski guide.  There have been many overnight rescues in this terrain from skiers and snowboarders leaving the ski area boundaries and getting lost without a guide.  Please call for more information and schedule a ski assessment or course prior to this tour. Probes, avalanche shovels and transceivers required and are available for rental.  Clients are responsible for buying the guide a ski pass if necessary.
